| Show SMALL TURNOUT ATTENDS LOCAL FARMERS MEETING members present unanimously decide to keep the alive and active some fifteen members only turned out in response to the call for the annual meeting of the monticello farmers and Stock growers association this was not sufficient under the bylaws by laws of the association to elect officers president claud L young youna called she e meeting to order and reviewed the activities of the association from its beginning he also stated that from what he be has learned and heard uness the privately downed and abandoned farms east of al monticello shall be purchased by the government and made into grazing grazing lands for the benefit of the farmers and stock men living in that district the large sheep interests of colorado and perhaps some of this state would soon i buy these lands all up and as con sequence ence the small farmer fanner and stockman oua there would be onto his own land exclusively it was moved by ambrose andersen seconded by john perkins that it is the sense of the meeting that it would be to abe he benefit of the actual residents living east of monticello Mont idello to to have the federal government purchase all of the abandoned farms in that district and turn tum them back to grazing land for the benefit of the resident farmers and stockmen stoc kmen the motion carried unanimously after discussion as to wheler or not the association should still carry on it was moved by wm hansen seconded by mose jones that the association should i be oon linued in intact tact which motion car carried F W keller moved that claud L young be retained as president and H E blake as secretary the 1 motion carried unanimously I 1 cecil jones move moved d hat chat the secre tary and president choose an adai I 1 sory committee of lot three to I 1 them motion carried whereupon I 1 mose lose jones john helquist and cecil jamies were named as such advisory com committe commit Jee the matter of membership to keep the organization 9 going having been discussed the he chair appointed wm hansen mose jones karl kari woo geo hagler and ambrose anderson a committee to solicit memberships the matter of in the stale stae horse horse and Cattle grOwers as socia ton was discussed the secretary stating that in order to retain i anem berain barship in the sate association it is necessary to pay into the state association the amount of 3 cents per head on cattle and horses owned after discussion it was moved by F W keller seconded by cecil jones that this association does not bar members who pay membership dues from becoming members through failure I 1 to pay sta htwe te associations assessments 1 the motion carried A motion prevailed that the association give a banquet and dance sometime be between gween the dates f june j 8 an and d and that the chair appoint an arrangement committee to have charge of the affair P F W keller I 1 karl wood cecil jones and wm vm hansen lansen were named as such commit t on motion the chair appointed appoint eil frank fran halls and fred keller an entertainment committee to have charge of the fun fest |
