| Show TO PRESERVE FIRST STATE HOUSE OF UTAH the daughters of the utah pioneers in carrying out their pul purpose ose of preserving and maintaining historic buildings and relies relics of pioneer day have turned their attention to the old state house at fillmore this old scone building erected in 1854 housed two sessions of the territorial terri trial legislature later the state capitol ads was permanently established in in salt lake city and the building was turned over to fillmore city and was used for various purposes by the people of that community it was given little care and became more run down from year to year until the american Americ afi legion got ai appropriation from the state of utah in and used the money to repair the building the state legislature legisa in 1927 made an appropriation a of which was used in restoring the building to its original condition the building buil dini and arounds ih were taken over by tha state of utah and are now state prop eity 7 the daughters of the pioneers have been given charge of the building for the purpose of making a place to collect preserve and exhibit pioneer relies relics the millard county chapters have secured nn fin appropriation of 1 from the counte couney commissioners of millard county and are now busy preparing the building and have people odthe of the state of utah become acquainted with the old state house housel they have planned a big state day celebration at filmore on oil july and octh the entertainment wl kl include parades programs a n pageant depicting utah history tile the dedication of the old state house houe as ft museum museum by governor george 11 II dern there will also be the usual I 1 bind l nd concert racing rodeo dancing and a fr free ee barbecue and horse show I 1 the daughters of the utah Pione pioneers ersi cordially invite you to attend this celebration |
