Ideas, promotions and the pro- . gress of Sugar House have been sifted and assembled this week by the Sugar House chamber of commerce com-merce in formulating groundwork ground-work for its program of work in 1955. Joe Aquila, chairman of the newly conceived committee, has met with a goodly cross section sec-tion of the business and professional pro-fessional men of Sugar House in sessions Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and will call the concluding meeting Friday at 9 a. m. in Walker Bank board room. Ray D. Free, chamber president, and D. James Cannon, executive I secretary, together with Aquila have assembled an impressive array ar-ray of Sugar House community life. Terming the three early sessions as entirely worthwhile, the chamber cham-ber leaders hope to evolve a program pro-gram of work that will include among other things this group of ideas which persistently were presented: pre-sented: Cut-through of a street between Highland Drive and 9th East at about Simpson avenue; widening and improving that workhorse street, Highland Drive; assigning a task force of chambermen to "getting it down in writing" the Sugar House and city's idea to make a parking lot of the old Sugar House park adjacent to Mc-Intyre Mc-Intyre Center. Getting started on the great program to make a fitting public pub-lic park of the old state penitentiary peni-tentiary site. Relaying the beat-up sidewalks in downtown Sugar House; taking the heavy duty truck traffic off 21st South; marking the public parking lots adequately for shoppers; shop-pers; beautifying the Plaza; Improving Im-proving Wilmington avenue between be-tween Highland Drive and 13th East. Bettering the Snow removal program; beautifying above 13th East on 21st South; improving the cross walks in Sugar House. And boosting Sugar House to |
