Show tk lllii Hast City EXPANSION DAYS TO HIGHLIGHT GRAND OPENINGS Sugar House exiansion cannot be denied, so to point it up, the chamber of commerce has designated Aug. 19, 20, 21 and 23 as Sugar House Expansion Days one of its greatest shopping promotions. Five stores in the fast finishing new shopping center are to hold grand openings those days and the retail merchants committee com-mittee of the chamber of commerce will move to make them long remembered. "Sugar House Expands" will be the magic words to touch off the bargain blaze that will spread to every corner of the great sofihteast. Free parking space, not only in the new center but in a half a score of other parking lots, will lend impetus to shoppers seeking to avail themselves ot the offered bargain "It is easy to shop in Sugar House, and people may come as they are," I,. E. (Hal) Halver-sen, Halver-sen, president of the chamber, said. "A person can buy anything any-thing his heart desires in Sugar House, conveniently, quickly and with a minimum of trouble. "The merchants are going to give the bargain side of the Sugar House expansion Days a good go, offering some of their most select bargains for the four days." he concluded. Huge searchlights will finger the skies at night, attracting attention of folk throughout the valley. Stores will remain open Thursday, Thurs-day, Friday and Monday until 9 p. m. to accommodate late shoppers and to give everyone a chance not only to see the new center as it swings into business action, but to visit the shops and stores they regularly patronized as well, Hal-versen Hal-versen pointed out. Tied in with the Sugar House centennial year, the sales events will top anything in bargains yet offered this year. New shops opening their doors will be J. C. Penney's, Walgreen's, Fabric Lane, Gallen Kamp's Shoes and possibly one other, it was reported. re-ported. Of course these concerns, together to-gether with a dozen others are opening up in the new $4,000,000 business and shopping center under un-der construction and nearing completion by the Papanikolas and Curtis families. Entire blocks have been cleared of older homes, shacks, garages, streets, alleys, brush and rubbish and a brand, spanking new area is being finished off the greatest shopping center area in the inter-mountain inter-mountain west. |
