Show Centennial Stamp On Sale July 24 Most Utahns are interested in the new Utah Centennial postage post-age stamp which will be released releas-ed at the Salt Lake City post-office post-office on Pioneer Day, July 24 and in other postoffices throughout the state and nation on the following day. They will want "first covers" for themselves them-selves and their friends, according accord-ing to Gus P. Backman, director of the Utah Centennial. A "first cover" is an envelope with the Centennial stamp cancelled can-celled on the day of issuance. Here is how the public may obtain them either for themselves them-selves or their friends. 1) They should address envelopes, envel-opes, either with or-without enclosures, en-closures, to themselves or to their friends and leave the envelopes en-velopes unstamped. 2) They should place all the envelopes in "package, and enclose en-close the proper amount of postage. post-age. In case of foreign mail, six cents should be (enclosed for each letter to allow for two of the 3 cents denomination Centennial Cen-tennial stamps. 3) The envelopes and money should be mailed to "Postmaster, Salt Lake City, Utah. 4) Cachets, notations, hand-drawn hand-drawn or painted decorations are allowed providing they do not interfere with cancellation. 5) Each envelope should bear the pencilled notation in the stamp corner how much postage is to be placed on the envelope. fi) They must be received in Salt Lake City early enough so j that they may lie stamped and cancelled before July 24 to be mailed then. |
