Show 24-Year Police Veteran Takes Over S. H.Post A 24-year veteran of the Salt Lake City police department this week took over as head of the Sugar House police substation. He is Sgt. C. Owen Poulsen, who was appointed to his new position posi-tion Nov. 16 by Police Chief L. C. Crowther. He is taking charge of the 12-man station at 1130 E. 21st South in a full-time capacity. Interim chief since the death of Lt. Charles J. Larson in July 1949, has been Lt. H. Fred Lee. In confirming the new appointment, ap-pointment, Chief Crowther also announced transfers and additions addi-tions to the local force. Three officers were transferred to the downtown station and three were added to the Sugar House detail. The new men include: J. H. Peck, A. E. Bukosky and M. Butterfield. Transferred were: E. H. Merrill, Don Pearson Pear-son and Tom Diamond. Traffic Chief The new chief of the local station sta-tion has been in charge of downtown down-town traffic since 1936. Prior to that he served as a patrolman from the time he entered police department service in December, Decem-ber, 1925. He was described Wednesday by a police official in the downtown station as, "One of the outstanding men in the department." Sgt. Poulsen is a local resident, resi-dent, having lived at 1067 Blaine Ave. since 1937. He is an active member of Bryan LDS Ward where he is a member of the high priests quorum. In police organizations he serves as director di-rector of the Police Mutual Aid Association and as a director of the Police Credit Union.
