Show To Be or Not To Be by A. VV. "Mickey" Hart, president, S. H. Chamber "To be or not to be?" That is the question. An organzation, be it "Chamber" or otherwise, goes up or goes down depending all on the kind of leadership it has the ends it seeks, the cooperation it receives. Speaking as the president of the Chamber of Commerce, an organization originally orig-inally created for the good of both business (private enterprise) and public welfare may I say that the Chamber accepts the challenge of socialistic trends in cur government which we declare de-clare are endangering our nation na-tion because as Lincoln has said: "You cannot help men permanently perma-nently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." The threat of socialism and foreign influence like weak- Onesses in a community can be overcome through informed action. A community newspaper news-paper is the best means of rallying ral-lying intelligent cooperation. If ever an organization as progressive as the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce needed to increase its membership and crystalize its opinions and ideas plan together, assert itself it-self and work together with the community newspaper OUR VERY OWN mouthpiece mouth-piece it is now! We can not ignore its unifying unify-ing influence. We can not, at this time, afford to jeopardize ourselves by permitting ourselves our-selves to appear weak, thereby giving the signal for others to step in and take from Sugar House what we hoped was ours? It can and will happen "Lock stock and barrel" if we assume our good business is "in the bag." We should and can help each other. To be or not to be that is the question! |
