Show Columbia Steel Immence Project The Columbia Steel Company at Provo, Utah reports that the largest number of steel-erecting cranes and crews ever brought together on one constructon project pro-ject are being assembled at the $150,000,000 Geneva Steel Plant near Provo. Utah. Another U. S. Steel subsidary American Bridge Company, steel erecting contractor at the Geneva works, already has moved locomotive loco-motive cranes capable of lifting 60-ton pieces of steel in one operation op-eration to the site of construction. Priorities permitting, this largest larg-est steel-erecting crew will be able to put in place between throe and four thousand tons of steel per week. 1 In designing the west's largest steel mill, the amount of steel which ordinarily would have been used was cut by approximately one-third by substituting other materials, iparticularfy Jconcrete. |
