Show IRVIMG EMKDROPS Bv George THE SCHOOLS ARE YOURS. VISIT THEM. This slogan was emphasized throughout the week at Irving. Many of the students' parents have visited our school. This week being American Education Week, the parents were all cordially invited in-vited to visit the classes. Both fathers and mothers joined our classes in the rooms. It has been a busy week with the students because of this. Last Tuesday the service clubs attended two movies at the Capitol Cap-itol Theater. The service clubs are composed of students who aid in the running of the school, such as the ushers, stage crew, projectionists and the hosts and hostesses in the cafeteria. The "clubs" are under the direction of MR. BRONSON, MR. WIL- Garwood LIAMS, MR. ARCHIBALD and MR. HILLSTEAD. They have certainly done a fine job so far this year. The community problems classes have surely been busy this week preparing for Friday's assembly. These classes are under the direction of MISS LAW, MISS MERRILL, and MISS BOWEN. In classrooms the pupils have been doing interesting interest-ing research work for the program. pro-gram. The assembly will be presented in three episodes on the early history of Utah. Last Thursday we had the finest assembly that we have had so far this year at Irving. MR. and MRS. JOHNSON, rep resenting the Brown Foundation of Walla Walla, Wash., showed some excellent colored and black and white slides of the universe surrounding us. They had several attravtive sky maps that the pupils also enjoyed. Tie orcehstra, of course, did its bit to help. The orchestra teacher, MR. MARTIN, was not present so RICHARD TAYLOR, one of the orchestra members, handled the conducting job. A fine job he did, too. Last Wednesday night the Ski Club met in D4 for its regular reg-ular weekly meeting. PRESIDENT PRESI-DENT BRAD SMITH and Vice President BILL COX outlined this year's plans. Right soon now they will be going up to Alta. If you. can ski or would like to learn, why don't you c'mon along and join? |
