Show EDGEHILL SENIORS TAKE FIRS r HALE HONORS IN JUNIOR HOOP PLAY I Southeast Furniture Tops Junior Division The first half honors of the senior sen-ior division in the Westminster Junior Basketball League was decided de-cided in a fast game played during dur-ing the week at Edgehill Gymnasium Gym-nasium when the Edgehill Seniors Sen-iors dropped last year's title holders, hold-ers, Sperry Seniors, 18-15. The Sperry's club carried a 12-7 lead at the half but Edgehill set up an almost air tight zone during the last half which held their opponents to only three points. Meanwhile the Edgehill players turned in some fire-alarm breaks which netted them their 18-15 triumph. The whole squad of winners win-ners turned in excellent games. Kilburne and West each counted up 6 points while Merrill Davis made four. Bus Tingey turned in the best floor game of the evening. even-ing. Wigren with a 6 and Rasmus-son Rasmus-son with a 4 were the top scorers scor-ers for Sperry's. Only Two Clubs Undefeated in Second Half Scramble Last week found eight teams still undefeated. This week only Southeast Furniture of the Junior Jun-ior bracket and Sperry Seniors of the Senior division have a clean record. The surprise of the day was the Southeast Furniture win over Paramount. Last week Paramount Para-mount tripped the Granite Furniture Furn-iture five to the surprising score of 15-5 but received almost as severe a trouncing from Southeast South-east Furniture who rang up a 26-11 win. Stepheson with 10 points led Southeast while Bird and Westbrook came through with 8 and 6 points respectively. Young- and Wright helped set up a strong zone for the winners. Christensen was the mainstay for the losing Paramount quint. Granite Furniture Clicks ayain Granite Furniture, still smarting smart-ing from their first loss of the season at the hands of Paramount hit their stride again Saturday and tripped Chet and Wess 22-8. Granite showed more fight than in other game of the year con-boards. con-boards. Earl Fillmore leed the at-bords. at-bords. Earl Fillmore led the attack at-tack with 12 points. Harmon, Riggs, and Davis as well as Haar and Roberts turned in good floor games. In the other junior tilt, Edgehill juniors led by Pearson with 10 points ran over I. G. A., 29-13. Hemsley, Williams, and Woolley also turned in good games. gam-es. Edgehill Seniors, Sperry's Win Feature Senior Tilts ' West and Kilborne led the' way for a hard fought win for Edgehill Edge-hill over Hawthorne, 20-16. Olson turned in some nice backboard work while Davis and Thompson played good floor games. Granger topped the Hawthorne -scorers with 7 points. Sperry Seniors remained the only on-ly undefeated team of the second half by dropping Richards in a tight 23-19 wil. Both teams played play-ed the ball very close and a wild, hard fought game was the result. The Richards clan was previously undefeated. |
