Show Congratulations V JR. -'- 1 ft y....Ww.W t ' i Tl ' This week "The Sugar House Bulletin" takes pleasure in extending ex-tending its "Birthday Congratulations" Congratu-lations" to Mr. W. L. Shelton, an Operator ot the Utah Light and Traction Company, who celebrated celebra-ted his natal day January 2nd. Mr. Shelton is a native son of the South being born in the State of West Virginia in 1878. Here he spent his boyhood davs either until the six-year enlistment had expired. In 1907 Mr. Shelton resigned from the army and placed an application ap-plication with the Utah Li.jht and Traction Company as a mo-torman mo-torman and has worked in this capacity for the past thirty-three years. During this time he has acquired a commendable ' safety record and has been awarded a working on his father's tobacco farm or driving a team of mules in a mine in Mercer County. When Mr. Shelton was eighteen years of age he left the farm and obtained ob-tained a job at the Norfolk and Western Railroad as a student brakeman. but resigned after three years of service with tnis company and enlisted in the army at the outbreak of the Spanish-American Spanish-American war. After the war Mr. Shelton decided to remain in the army and enlisted for an additional ad-ditional six years and was sent to the Philippine Islands. Four years later he was transferred to Fort Douglas and remained here one-year National Safety Award signifying one year of driving without a chargeable accident. Mr. Shellon's chief hobby is j centered around the "Early to bed and early to rise " adage. for he spends all of his spare time sleeping and exercising in an attempt to keep himself in good physical condition. Mr. Shelton is married and resides re-sides at 653 Coatsville Avenue with his wife and daughter. "The Bulletin" also wishes to congratulate Mr. Ronald Yar.ce, of 2745 McClelland Street, who also celebrated his birthday Jan-uary Jan-uary 2nd. |
