Japanese Exhibit The University of Utah will take on the atmosphere of the Orient this week when its Union Board presents "Spotlight on the Orient." Scheduled to run from November 17 to 25 and 27, the Oriental program will include a Japanese Art-Craf- ts exhibit, a speech and seminar by Japan's ambassador to the U.S., a panel discussion on " U. S. Policy towa rd China, ' ' and a lecture on ' Zen Buddhism and other Oriental Religions." Also scheduled are a Japanese fashion show, a program of Orient-al music and dance, a review of the best-selli- ng novel THE UGLY AMERICAN, a showing of the movie "Gate of Hell," a special Oriental display in the Union Browning Room and three Oriental programs on KUED-T- V. The Art-Craf- ts of Japan ex-hibit will present contemporary art objects displayed for the first time in the U.S., as well as ceramics, lacquer, bamboo, tex-tiles, metals and a collection of folk-to- ys from various regions of Japan. Sponsored by the Japan Trade Center of San Francisco, an agency of theJapan Export Trade Pro-motion Agency, the exhibit will open in the U. Union on November 17. Mr. Jones has been president and financial secretary of the National Conference of Methodist Youth. He was director of the National Convocation of Methodist youth which 5000 young people attended at Purdue University in 1951. and director of the 1952 Christian Youth Conference of North America.
