Show Fort Hood, Texas Pvt. Eugene R. Smith, son of Mrs. Evelyn T. Whitehead, 3966 S. 15th, E, Salt Lake City, completed a supply specialist course April 17 at the III Corps Academy, Fort Hood, Texas. Smith entered the Army last December and completed basic combat training at,' Fort Hood. The 24 year-old soldier attended at-tended Raft River High School, Malta, Idaho. Before entering the Army, he was employed by Southern South-ern Pacific Railroad, San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif. Bad Kreuznacn, Germany Army PFC James A. Lang, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin J. Lang 3343 Melbourne St., Salt Lake City, participated with the 8th Inf-. Inf-. fantry Division in a NATO command com-mand post exercise conducted April 13-17 in Germany. The exercise, sponsored by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, was designed to strengthen communications and tactical teamwork among NATO countries and to test the combat readiness of units making up a part of the NATO shield of defense def-ense in Europe. Lang, a member of the division's divi-sion's Headquarters Company in Bad Kreuznach, entered the Army in March 1957, received basic training at Fort Carson, Colo., and arrived in Europe inMay 1958. |
