L . ..... , -- w- Salt Lake Valley was beautified this past long week-end by the presence of many attractive girls, who competed in beauty contests, some of whom are shown in these pictures. In the photograph to the right is Miss. Carolyn Lassater, chosen Utah National Guard Queen for 1960, shown with Major General Max-- , well E. Rich, at the National Guard ball held Monday, February 22nd, at the Union Building on the University of Utah Campus. On the left is the new Murray Jaycee Sweetheart of 1960 Miss Carole Sue Jacobson, shown with Mr. Neal Cluphpresident, Murray Junior Chamber of Commerce. Miss Jacobson was chosen at ceremonies held on Friday, Feb-ruary 19th at The Terrace Ballroom. Miss Lassater was chosen Queen of the Utah National Guard during the Muster Day Ceremonies held over the week-en- d. When the cherry-blosso- ms bloom in Washington, D.C., sometime in April, the Muster Day Queens will go to the Capitol for a National Guard Pageant and Ceremony. Her many friends in South East Salt Lake City will remember Miss Lassater as Sugar House Queen in 1958. Among the honors which Carolyn has won have been "Bee" Queen, and "Miss Ringer", of 1959. A senior at West High School, just turned eighteen, Carolyn is planning to attend the University here next year, majiiing in psy-chology with a minor in dramatics. The new Sweetheart of 1960, Miss Jacobson, 18, is a blue-eye- d blonde, 5' 9" tall, 137 pounds, born in Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended Olympus High and the University of Utah. Other recent honors were as attendant to Miss Carolyn Lassater as Miss Ringer of 1959. Miss Jacobson lives at 1993 Arcadia Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah. In the center picture the first attendant, shown at the left of Miss Sweetheart, isJeannineBerg, 18, who lives at 31 Haxton Place. She is 5' 5", 108 lbs., ofbrownette beauty. Miss Berg is a graduate of East High School and attends the University of Utah. Second attendant, shown at the right is Colleen Simper, 21, 1769 South 17th East. Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a native of Vernal, Utah, 5' 3", 110 lbs., blue-eye- d with reddish blonde hair. Her high school was Newport High, Newport, Oregon, and she also attended Brigham Young Univ-ersity and the University of Utah. Titles: Attendant to Miss Ringer of 1959, Miss U.B.LC, and Miss Uintah County. Major General Rich and Miss Carolyn Lassater find events highly entertaining at the National Guard Ball.
