Show Sugar House, Utah Thursday, Jan. 17, 1957 SOUTH EAST INDEPENDENT PTA Sponsors Book Review Tonight at Sherman School Sherman School Parent-Teache- rs Association will sponsor their an-nual book review this evening at 8 p.m. (Jan. 17) at the school with Miss Helen Kimball presenting the light-hearte- d book entitled "Papa's Wife." According to Mrs. Stanford L. Hale, PTA president, the funds raised from this review will be used for the PTA scholarship fund. Program chairman is Mrs. Francis W. Christiansen. Libby Edwards Set Adult Edu. Program Under the direction of Mrs. James W. Beless, an interesting and educational series of programs are in store for members of the Libby Edwards School. The classes began January 7, and will continue each Monday eve-ning at 8 p.m. for the next six weeks. Included in the discussion topics will be Miss Gret Croft, "Present-ing Sex Education To Children;" Dr. W. Harold Handley, "Respon-sibility of the Home In Helping the Child Succeed in School;" Dr. How-ard Teare, "Mental and Emotional Problems of Children," "Teaching Responsibility to Children" and "How ParenU Can Recognize , Symptoms of Emotional Instabil-ity." Mrs. Alice McKay will present, "Problems of the Exceptional Child." The public is invited to attend the classes for which a fee of $1 will be charged. Engagements Told Howard Hansen Miss Luceen Howard will become the bride of Hans Stanley Hansen February 1 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Parents of the bride-elec- t, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Howard, 1529 Ra-mo-na Ave. (1935 South) are mak-ing the announcement of the betrothal. Parents of the benedict, elect are Mr. and Mrs. Hans N. Hansen, 1347 Miller Ave. 3130 South). After the ceremony the couple will be honored by Mr. and Mrs. Hansen at a breakfast at the Beau Brummel. A reception at the Sill Home Living Center on the U. Campus will be given by the Howards that evening. . Miss Howard is a senior major-ing in elementary education at the U. She is affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega, is ASUU historian and a member of the debate team. Mr. Hansen served in the U.S. Army and is also a student at the hilltop school and also completed an LDS mission in Denmark. Mrs. James Barton, Miss Ellen Gunnell and Miss Carol Cook will be attendants to the bride. Flow-er girls will be Joy Ann Rasmus-se- n and Cheryl Hendrickson. Choreographer is Agnes DeMille, whose dances have been starred in many Broadway productions. Among new productions to be presented in the ballet are Boris Romanoffs "Harliquinade," and "Tragedy on Calabria," from the opera "I Pangliacci." Nina Novak, Yvonne Chouteau and Irina Brorowska are leading ballerinas in the production and Igor Youskevitch hailed as the world's greatest classic ballet artist will also appear. Ballet Troupe To Appear At Kingsbury The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo will be presented at a performance Monday, January 21st at Kings-bury Hall according to Gail Plummer. The Ballet Russe has been ac-claimed as one of the most popular ballet companies in America and P-T- A To Meet There is a great treat in store for all those who attend the Parent-Teache- rs meeting at Libby Edwards School, Thursday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. Mrs. D. R, German, president, announced that the well known ladies Aleggo Chorus will present the program. Members and the public are in-vited to attend. Miss Sugar House In University Play Jeralynn Topham, 1956 graduate of Olympus High School, plays a featured role in the Young People's Theater production of "The Em. peror's New Clothes" at the Uni-versity of Utah. The comedy, which opened last week-en- d in Kingsbury Hall, will be repeated later in January at Jordan, West and South High Schools. Jeralynn is a University of Utah freshman majoring in secondary education. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Topham, 2476 E. 3080 South. Student Injured Miss Gloria Simmons, resident student at the Westminster College escaped minor injuries when her car went out of control last week. Miss Simmons was driving on U.S. Highway 40 in Parleys Can-yon when her car skidded on the slippery road. She was taken to the Salt Lake General Hospital and then released.
