Show uintah range Ocar scarcity V city told reports on oil range problems and the farm economics of the uintah basin were approved by th steering committee on the uintah basin study at a meeting at the newhouse hotel thursday under direction of dr W P thomas of the utah agricultural experiment station chairman details of the reports were not released for publication but it was explained the range report submitted by dr L H stoddard dar of the experiment station drew attention to the scarcity of winter range in the basin furnishing only 27 months of we use as compared with the 55 months required for a balanced grazing program the economics report submitted by george T blanch also of the experiment station revealed that livestock farms had netted a nore more abundant income than farms without livestock program but pointed out lack of available range made any expansion of the livestock industry in the basin impracticable I 1 e however many local stockmen stoc kmen men do not entirely agree with this re port and believe there is room for rome come expansion in the industry in the basin they also believe economic conditions here could be greatly improved by redistribution of range |
