Show pleasant valley cooperative group reports progress over acres of land plowed and planted with new machinery in past two weeks according to E A johnson of pleasant valley president of the peasant valley cooperative association an agriculture unit which was organized about a month ago much progress A u being made in plowing and planting of land in pleasant valley through a government loan worth of farm machinery was purchased by the association consisting of a tractor plows drill corn planters etc the seven members of the association including mr johnson hosea lisonbee frank roberts wilmer elmer carlo roberts james redford and lyman parrish are using the machinery machiner cooperatively and plowing Q and planting land owned by them in the past two weeks over acres of land have been planted mostly in corn and members of the group hope to plant many more in the next several days the purchase of the equipment has as made possible the planting of many more acres of land than farmers belonging to the association have formerly been able to take care of users contracts the ile machinery may be let out on users contracts to persons desiring to rent it and members of the association believe the rent will pay for the equipment in the five years allowed by the government for repayment mr john wn lon said the association also maintains a sinking fund for replacement of worn out machinery mr johnson reported that conditions in pleasant valley look very bright for a bumper crop this year ear and with increased acreage under cultivation a good year is ia anticipated by farmers in that section |
