there which seek thru the world is neer met with elsewhere tho the first thing we desire to know about the settling of c a new country is why did the people go there mere what was their purpose the chief aim of 0 the cal eaily ly pioneers of loka ioka was to bu build I 1 id homes to build for their children and their childrens children A community ct cf homes of which they could well be proud it was no nei hn easy task to enter a new country and take up the life of true pioneers many were the ma haid bailys borne by the early settlers settlors sett lors of our country the first difficulty was water which was hauled from the duchesne river in barrels for cattle as ell as for household use the people spent most of their time the first two years building the ditches which now low carry water to our farms after the second year bosle so tle water was secured from the indian department in 1910 the as spent in working on the canal in big cut at the head of dry gulch by upalco which later proy ed CA a failure and w was as abandoned the next year they went to the site of class C canal and succeeded that summer in getting the water out the first patch of green on the loka bench was corn raised hy by john K X Le lemon the first crop in the valley was raised by the baird brothers hyrum and asa also by wim gentry until water was secured teed feed tor kotock was hauled frim the indian
