Show UINTAH BASIN FUTURE FARMERS ALL AMERICANS by L R humpherys state supervisor of ag education letters of commendation continue to pour into my office from froin different parts of tho the U S over the showing made mad by the puttie farmers of utah and particularly r the boys from the boyack and vernal chapters utah indeed had bad several all americans this year the achievements won at kansas city convention were no ace accidents but came as a result of planning and careful supervision super vison ol oi o i the part 0 of agri aari ajril W E atwood and it 11 lundell T P e efficient tea teamwork mork of 0 il future farmers of the he rodsevelt sevelt high had much to do 0 with winning first place in the national chapter contest this was nas done in the face of a i bad drouth and low financial returns the whole success of 0 t these aase achievements can be spelled out in one word cooperation in the national chapter contest it was necessary to submit the record of every future farmer in scholarship ability to farm ability to cooperate his school and community activities and the he program in leadership I 1 believe the trip of the boyack chapter to the century of progress represents the most efficient example of planning and execution of plans I 1 have ever witnessed anyone who had to do with the handling of large groups of boys knows what I 1 mean when I 1 make mak this statement in a letter from director miller of kansas concerning the work of the utah roup group he said you and this group of boys have set alively pace for the rest of us to ry to follow you haie stimulated the whole county to greater effort and have tendered rendered a real service to the cause of vocational education in the unusual showing dour our gioco gifun made the agricultural leaders Le iders digest of chicago in speaking of the record of utah has this to say in is november issue this is distinctly a utah year at the annual F F A convention from utah came the evenly two piece official P F F A band A utah cli chapter apter boyack from the town of roosevelt in isolated uintah basin won the national chapter contest against three hundred com competitors competitor petito rs the utah boy cecil C cope receiving the american farmer degree this year is from boyack chapter roosevelt roosevel and uintah can be proud of their representatives in the state band which went to kansas city jack lundberg W R smith and rex olsen these boys not only played well but they set a good example for behavior which was characteristic of the utah group jack lundberg was selected to represent the boyack chapter at kansas city to broadcast over the N 13 C network with an audience estimated a at several million people ile he carried on a conversation with the N B C radio announcer the announcer asked many questions concerning utah and the boyack chapter jack did a wonderful job ire proved that he was thoroughly familiar with the doln doans s of his chapter ills his voice carried well and the N 13 C officials were well pleased with hla his lob job cecil C copo cope was the only boy from utah to receive the american farmer degree the gold key dignifies dignified this honor will be sent by the U S bureau of education for award by the school officials it Is planned to have a representative senta tive of the U S bureau of education present at the time of the completion and dedication of the boyack chapter house in the accomplishments at the roosevelt high school the future farmers had the hearty support of the school officials the chapter house will afford much needed classroom space |
