Show dahi 17 id fc A NEW MEW UINTAH matah BASIN our impersonal column enlarged and why in taking up extra space we must put into print some harsh words in order to find the pulse beat of the majority of uintah basin citizens now that the whole united states is speaking and thinking A A now new deal it is high time that our citizens realize their golden opportunity and if possible to awaken to the situation enough to get their ishara share of the development which Is being planned at the present time we wonder why the brain power of the basin la is sleeping we als also 0 wonder what it will take to bring them to life long enough to secure a little development which will without question place our country in the security column some weeks ago we suggested in this column that a uintah basin planning board be organized this was waa done after ye editor had set in council with governor henry 11 II bloods expert consultant to his utah planning board after listening very tentatively to mr air S R deboer tor for better than two hours we convinced that the time was opportune to take advantage of the big move which is under wa way y we then challenged tile the citizenship of this inland country to shoulder responsibility lity and do something to make the present and future brighter for all but up to date there hasteen has been nothing done let us hope that ethere are at least a hand full of progressive men and w omen left in tho the basin who are willing to shoulder a little bublic welfare responsibility we tare are going to give it to you again just as mr deboer governor bloods state planning board consultant sul tant pictured picture it to us this expert was seeking first hand information along business industry agricultural and storage water lines aines in order to intelligently suggest and map out the most feasible projects tor for the consideration of the board at lar ge ile he explained that great things are hoped hopeb to be accomplished and emphasized pha sized that the chairman ot of the board W it wallace was extremely anxious to have numerous water storage sites located due to the tact fact that there would be considerable sid erable money meney appropriated tor for such devel development aDment we think we can see why ithe government hits has adopted state planning boards and f teal that what la Is good tor for states should also be good for an inland country such as our own such a board it if properly pricked picked eliminating religious political and all fer organizations izat ions with only one aim in view and that of increasing the value of lands and personal property throughout the entire uintah basin regardless of location that it would be one of the best beet moves we possibly could make in forming suck a board it would greatly eliminate the expense of securing the proper data necessary to present to the tha state board it would do away with committees running into the capitol city every weekend week end from all parts of the basin without proper information and in many any cases harping to officials on promotions which had been heard several times over it would be a decided factor in securing better hearings for our wants we have wonderful watersheds in this uintah basin country noth kith wonderful streams of water running to waste each year may we suggest right liere here that this alone would be a threat great thing for the proposed prop planning board to look into let them secure the services of experts vand rand engineers with the object in view of impending this water why not have a dam site located for each of the rivers running oft off from our water sheds which would eliminate all hazards of one or more dry seasons such as we have just experienced we have the land and plenty of it and we would have plenty of water possibly more than enough it if it was once properly Im and not allowed to run to waste why not some one call a meeting for some central place in the basin for the solo sole purpose of orga organizing such a board we ve are sure the state officials would appreciate pre preci clate ate the idea and listen to our pleadings more I 1 sympathetic than they have done in the past will some one zet et busy X governor alfalfa bill murray of oklahoma in opposing chain banks remarked that when a man has one I 1 bank and one wife he has all of either that he will ever need is 0 is WEED CAMPAIGN the farmers of the uintah basin each year holler heads ott off to the r sportsmens sports ports mens organizations about the number of 0 pheasants phea gants and the damage done to the crops well we are not kayln that they have hava not got a holler coming but as aa we see it from rom the huntera hun tern angle we wonder why mr air farmer armor harbors barbers such wonderful hideouts hide bide outs tor for the phe pheasants arants in tho the form of weed patches or may we say weed fields but let us get down ta 19 brass tacks why not promote a big weed campaign on the farms and also in the cities A good clean up wont do us any harm FERA FEEA senator borah of maho idaho has kicked up quite a commotion in the FERA ranks of the nation and we note llota that relief administrator harry L hopkins has ordered a prompt and se searching archin inquiry borah declares there has been a shameful waste in administering the funds and in some cases it has been found that money has hag been used tor for political purposes we are glad that bome one has had nerve enough to demand a checkup check up I 1 however lO wever we are almost sure that none of the th money in our county has been used tor for political purposes but we e eire are not so sure that distribution has haa been oquilly distributed |
