Show roosevelt school news third grade wo we are going around the world in our geography and we lire iare having a lot of tun fun last week we visited the th eskimo twins this week we are in the hot lands miss bliss larsen brought some things that tier her brother brought fro from in the society islands there waa a dress that was mado made of grass dyed red and a headdress to match there was a fan of blue and white she brought many shells there was a hat band made of little sea shells no bigger thana than a piece ot of wheat our washington essays were evere judged monday night the whole school wrote an essay anna burton from the ath grade got first amber ainger swain second and reva mecham from our TOOM room third W WB wa a think we had some good essays and it was hard to decide on revas we are arc glad she did so well the boys gave the girls a party monday everyone iliad a nice time 33 BURNELL SWAIN room 3 third and fourth grades spring is here all the birds are coming back again the plants are getting green the lawns will be green once more school will joe be out in april there are two of spring im sure you know what they are girls with jumping ropes and boys walking stilts FLORENCE DAVIS DA VIS room 8 fourth grade we are learning a poem the name of it is sin of me carpenter man alan it Is a funny poem we wish you could hear it we have learn learned ad many other they are very interesting we made tans fans we could pa paint int them any color we wanted th they ey axe are very pretty they have all kinds of designs on them we hope you can see them ELAINE PETERSON room 6 5 fifth grade we went on minature al ai nature walk last friday we saw a great many signs of spring but the fhe wind was so cold we failed to do as we had planned we all enjoyed the out ing ng and the peanut butt but div given an at it the bandstand in honor of the girls beating the boys in in a spelling match A few tears were shed because the boys threw the peanuts a little too hard at the he girls ila ha ila ha we are scheduled to spell mr air coombs ath grade this week some time and we surely hope that we win the boys and girls are contesting with each other in review questions in history the boys are winning so farland far land are going to continue doing so DORAL BELLON room 6 sixth grade the spelling match between our room mr air coombs and mrs airs mathews room was postponed un til tuesday march 29 we have been practicing and believe well beat them in the school eake cake contest it was decided that charles albright made the best cake lee harmston came second and phyllls phyllis page third the prizes were first second and 3rd ard we are glad to one of the cake winners in OUT room BILLY GRANT MARCHANT KEITH WEBB NORMAN PENN FENN room 9 this week the girls from room 9 and 10 are getting up a baseball to play mr air evans room friday the players are as follows ruth burgess ca catcher teher kathryn Hammer schmidt pitcher winona sturgeon first base phyllls phyllis page second base adulla larsen third base esther wilson first short stop jean wardle second short stop beverly bolden first fielder geneva daniels second fielder last friday the tahe ath and ath grades went up to the high school to hear bear the declamation contests charles albright won from the ath and ath grades of duchesne county RUTH BURGESS MELPHA BABCOCK DEE LAURA HANCOCK 1 KATHRYN C MILDRED ANDERTON room 9 sixth grade last friday was a big day at the roosevelt central school the district spelling bee between duchesne and uintah counties was held with Du duchesne chestie county winning the vic victory torry there were twenty four pupils in the con contest test evelyn ashton the speller of the roosevelt school won seventh place in the contest the word which decided tho the champion was fatuous the girls girla were given first trial at the word and after misspelling it austin cope 0 of myton spelled the word and the following word on the list and therefore was declared the chmir champion plon after the fhe contest cake and ice cream were served to the contestants EVE EVELYN LYN ASHTON |
