Show r county y agent news ne V W ej LEROY C FUNK county abent thousands of bulletins distributed by local county agent the statistical annual report prepared by leroy C funk county agent reveals that duri g the past paa year farm bulletins were distributed to duchesne county farmers this Is an average of more than 9 bulletins for each farmer fanner the bulletins that were distributed were I 1 selected elected because they de dealt it we particularly a r ticul arly with some phaze of agriculture ri in the county which needed improvement in all farms were visited v and forty three homes this represents tep about one third of the farms of the county as there are 1050 farms in duchesne county those thebe farm visits were made in response to invitations sent by farmers and for the purpose or obtaining actual data regarding the farms of the cou ity 2682 individual letters were written for the extension work in tho the county during the past twelve months 49 circular letters wore were prep prepared axed which had a total circulation of copies these circular letters were prepared pared because they touched upon some phaze of duchesne county agriculture which it was desired to call to the attention of du chesno county farmers and home makers 2044 office calls were made relative to extension work meetings were held antl people Tec received ehred instruction in wine bome phaze of agriculture and home makin making the extension work is educational it is designed to make the farm and home life more worth while to this end work was conducted n cerial clop improvement alfalfa and dorase fora e crop im ment home gardens and home beautification in dairy cattle management beef cattle industry in sheep husbandry 4 H club work woric all and tile I 1 such miscellaneous laneous activities as tree planting rodent control farm building buil din poultry I 1 management and incidental work 1 to the abbie program rain which includes the building of an extension sion pro program ram 0 of f work and to general I 1 co community 1 anity organization and associations some phases of cooperative marketing were made available to farmers of the in connection with the uintah county farm bureau marketing pools were organized through this connection in wool lambs and turkeys cream pools are available to a good many of the farmers ot of the county it is the intention 1 I 0 of the extension sen ice to aid in orderly marketing of farm products that banners may realize the fruits of their labor in no case have wo we asked an individual farmer to join a pool we believe I 1 pools 0 0 s are beneficial but that 1 they h e y will be stronger atron er when farmers come in of their own accord rather than to be persuaded to join the extension service feels that they havis have had unstinted cooperation of the farmers and home makers of the cotina and all officials of the county count yin ln any way connected with the exten sio to program of work for this we e express our gratitude we have ambition to do our bit to improve the farm and home life of duchesne county communities county extension agent I 1 |
