Show W U S engineers study details of deer creek report reveals extensive activity upon provo river project vast amounts of detail work are being doue dorae by engineers for the united states reclamation bureau in connection with the deer creek crnek reservoir project on the provo river it was revealed wednesday at the monthly meeting ag of the utah water storage commission the matter came before the commission in the form of a report from 0 0 larsen associate engineer tor for the bureau in charge of investigations tor for the salt lake basia project ol of the bureau how widespread axe are the matters being investigated in connection with the deer creek project ia indicated by items from the report one thing beirad considered Is extension of railroad locations f from rom park city to heber possibly to replace the denver rio grande western service sow now reaching heser er through provo calyon the deer creek reservoir would necessitate rebuilding of several miles of the provo canyon branch it if it is to be retained would obtain duchesne water right the engineer reported also that bout about 60 50 per cedat of the work ao ac on the preparation of preliminary designs and estimates of 1 A tunnel from the Duch duchesne esue river drainage basin to the provo river baciu this contemplates utilization at deer creek ot of greater storage capacity than there la is any necessity for eor it only waters of the provo and such euch as may be derived from the weber through the kamas bench beach canal now under cou cora st mellon are stored there possibilities of obtaining water from the Duch duchesne esue is deemed to importance especially to the future water supply of lot salt lake and other of the great salt lake basin detailed studies made of flow mr larson also reports detailed water supply studies on the daily flow of the Due duchesne besne river at the tunnel site indicating what flood waters might be b brought through the wasatch range and also ou the flow of lot the weber at oakley and elsewhere these studies are also being made in connection with possible uses of the waters diverted and other waters stored both during diver and after storage tor for development of electric energy the flow from the weber at oakley Is being computed and plotted tor for nineteen eteen years 1910 to 1928 to indicate amounts usable by the murdock murdoch power above heber on the provo river studies are being made of the loss to the weber river power plants by transfer of power water to the provo so BO that the replacement of such euch energy by running water through the murdock and the olmstead plaat may be considered the heads of water a and aad ad the times when it would be available are all being closely turied tu died the report indicated these and various other studies of water supply and its use must be submitted to the denver office of the bureau for approval before they may be included lu ita a plan tor for the deer creek project |
