system from the fifth to twelfth grades inclusive will take part superintendent erin paxton has introduced the subject to the schools by means of the following letter itter duel sarc asre utah november 13 1929 dear principal the county extension agent leroy C funk has initiated upon my suggestions an essay contest en titi ri 1 why I 1 should help build better permanent homes in ducheane el esne county george C kohl of the sanitary market in duchesne is giving 2500 to purchase prizes first second and third as listed list tor for each grade concerned except to the hibib schools where no division as to grades will be made this means that a first second and third prize will be b 3 given to the three papers adjudged the best in each grade in in the district can your school win a prize I 1 suggested that the subject be studied carefully in grades five to twelve inclusive in civics and english starting today and then in keeping the rules have the papers definitely assigned december 2nd and and returnable to th 6 teacher concerned by december ath the best theme from each grade should then be sent to my on or before december alth papers received after that date will not be considered si this is a very worthy undertaking ng which should enlist the support a and nd cooperation of every teacher and pupil in the district we need more and better homes to give permanency to the county this will motivate a splendid subject in civics and english the rules and regulations are 11 listed abed below subject why I 1 should help to build better permanent homes in duchesne county participants fifth sixth sev bev entill and eighth grades of all the schools of duchesne county and all the high school students of the three high schools of the county all pupils in the grades mentioned must submit a theme awards three medals first see oni ond on i and third to each of the grades mentioned above except the high school which will be considered as one unit but papers will b be sub submitted mite from each high school 1 grade rade judges of the contest tins the teacher of each grade or the class cass advisor of the high school classes will be responsible for selecting the best essay from the respective group the winnins winning essay is to be submitted to the county superintendent by december 11 1929 who with the county extension agent will select the bille judges for the final awards first second third prize fifth grade sixth girade seventh grade eighth grade high school the papers should be written in ink on one bide aide of the paper only type written papers will not be accepted they should be folded from right to left the name of the school the name of the pupil and the date should be written on the outside judges will be requested to not consider names
