| Show final arrangements being made for fifth annual uintah basin industrial convention much work is being done on old fort Du ducheane chegne campus prepa in h for the large crowds expected daring convention the 1927 meeting of the uintah basin industrial convention is bet for august 3 4 and 5 at fort duchesne committees have bee been 11 working liard hard since march to make this convention a little more IT instructive tive a little more entertaining n and a little more pep than any of the four pro previous violla meetings and had a job to do it until just lately these plans were just working out and the committee members have not had much to say now with arran practically completed there so many big things and little too planned for this meeting that there time to tell much about them t r most basin people remember the first U B D 1 I C in 1923 tt it was I 1 decided upon and planned out outa and conducted as a big meeting oti all basin people and interests to to discuss the problems and resources or of the uintah basin primarily it was educational work but work ot any ally kind without relaxation ge gets ta monotonous after a time the original sponsors of the U 13 I 1 CI C wisely planned for entertainment to refresh the mind and the soul and recreation to relax and refresh the body later committees have bave found that education entertainment and recreation go hand in hand I 1 and planned the meetings accordingly all uintah basin people haie hae a right to lie be mighty proud of the U B 1 I C for it Is their own in bention and is supported largely by their contribution and by county appropriations which must come from taxes fort duchesne was selected a as the site in the firby place because ot of its central loca 1 1 tion with regard to basin points and in the second place because it had excellent camping facilities tor for those who came from a dis tance the folks from dragon and the folks from Tablon Ta blona ecamp calop side bide by side with folks from altonah alzonah and the folks from antelope and they become acquainted and f friends 1 j the committee for the 1327 1927 U 1 13 1 I C has planned a program with something for everybody whether he lives in the center of the basin or on the farthest edge whether he Is ig a pioneer before 1880 or a child in arms the con 1 bention is tree free good conduct is the only requirement for admission the educational portion of the od program a as s usual will consist corisis of lectures by prominent people who are authorities in their respective fields and group instructions by members of the staff of colleges and universities of the state the tha add addresses by such men as governor dern ex governor win will spry and other prominent people will be on subjects of importance to the basin the group instruction will be chiefly on agricultural and livestock matters and home economics because most people in the leasin are engarde in livestock production agriculture or in running born homes the livestock men will find special interest in the forestry program which will deal chiefly with range problems anyone in the basin who runs livestock on his hig own range or in the forest should find a vast amount ot of useful information in tile the forestry exhibits and ana instructions the work in home economics will be handled with reference to home problems or of the people here in the uintah basin mothers who are interested in these sessions will ind find the supervised and enclosed play grounds tor for children a great convenience because they will be able abla to attend the meetings knowing that the children are comfortable and well taken care of and safe the committee is making special arrangements lor for separate meetings ings for boys and girls about 14 years old these meetings will be coa conducted ducted by men and women who ho like young folks and it is to be expected that they will not only learn something but that they will have a good time in ili their own meetings the U 13 1 I C expects everybody to attend and they propose ta to have some educational work tor for everybody men women boys girls and little children continued on page six FINAL arrangements BEING MADE FOR V U B L I 1 C continued florin page or bopf ranged for the fort douglas band or more strictly speaking the U S infantry band to furnish furnis fi the music and to play several concerts this Is a big army band recognized as ag one of the really good ones and their coming will enable uintah basin people to hear bear thrilling band music right at old fort I 1 duchesne |
