Show THE CLOCK WITHOUT HANDS the other day walking along the ancient streets of london I 1 came across the most extraordinary window display I 1 will not describe all of it I 1 will only speak of the tiling thing which stood out mole than anything else it was a clock without any hands the pendulum was moving the works in motion everything about this clock seemed to he be lif in the very best of condition with one exception its face had the numbers of all of the hours put cut no hands moved upon it it was wali doing everything except indicating the time and that was abo ih 0 on thing for which the clock had been made I 1 walked on past the window thinking I 1 was not thinking of clocks I 1 was thinking of people whose lives are full of motion and activity but the motion never comes to anything the activity never really work out in definite achievement they are like clocks without hands then I 1 thought of the people who with all their fully occupied days and hours miss the very ery purpose for fok which they are in the you can hear the tick tick tick of their lives dut you can never tell the time hom them their lives are as empty of moral and spiritual meaning as a clock without hands they ate aie W wound up they are running but they never indicate the hour the people who tick but never keep time are a part of the waste material Materi aI of tile the woi ld dr lynn harold hough |
