Show enthusiastic U B 1 I C COMMITTEE HOLDS MEETING WORK WHICH WUA WILL INTEREST ALL AIL IN THI 3 SUCCESS OF THE THIRD tined ANNUAL U B 1 I C AUGUST 12 IS 13 AND 14 at tho the meeting of the general committee of the U 13 1 I C held at fort duehesne duchesne at 2 p m wednesday there were 30 members present 7 of whom were from vernal and also quite a number of visitors present when president J P may called tho the meeting to order during the meeting splendid entertaining numbers were given by the misses pearl and ruby wallis ot of vernal on the violin and piano ana vocal solos by mrs airs N C wilson of loka and which were much appreciated mr may in his opening remarks told of what the U B D I 1 C meant to the basin bringing together as it does the scattered population of 0 the section in an educational and social way and that the real success of the big venta venture ure was to get all ot of the communities working together harmoniously each doing their part and mot throwing all ot of the burden upon a few ot of the chosen committeemen lie ile also read a short hort s extract from a letter written by L H farnsworth of the walker bros bank salt lake city after his return from a recent trip to the basin with his associates of the federal reserve bank officials mr air farnsworth stated that there was much more talk of the uintah basin in salt lake city than at any time before mr air may complimented those who had come out to the meeting E peterson chairman of the program committee stated that t there here was no BO question but that the program tor for this year will be tar far better than the previous two years and that the hard thing to do was to cut down on those who were available tor for tile the big meeting as so many prominent persons were willing to give their talents tor for the benefit and success of the meeting and that there was only a limited time each day the U ot of IT 13 Y U and U A C were anxious to help in every way they can with instruction and recreational ways besides furnishing some of the speakers the instruction which will be giren this year would apply directly to basin needs and that more local interest would be aroused by those attending the different alases the instructors are picking out their own subjects and planning well ahead just j what is to be given much more detail will be given in each class which will insure double and triple attendance at every class this will tax the instruction rooms to capacity mr air peterson reported that a specialist on sheep and wool ot of national repute would be present all three days and it was now thought that dr stewart irrigation specialist would be present also N W irsfeld of myton talked of the financial needs of the convention and the means ot of raising the necessary funds attorney robert G porter ot of duchesne explained the commercial and industrial side ot of the convention and the interest being taken by business concerns in the advantages to be deri derived ved in a business way of so BO many persons being gathered for the three thre e days mr porter suggested that on one ot of the days time be given tor for an industrial paeans parade giving all present a chance to display to advant ae the growth ot of their basin business ventures the questions asked by the many committeemen present showed that greater interest was being taken by the communities especially was this true when it came to knowing what would be required by them in helping stage the pageant which will be under the direction of miss stella richards who made such a success of the pageant last year at the U B D I 1 C and also at the uintah county fair praise has been given miss aliss richards tor for her success all over the state and only recently tourists who were in attendance at the U B I 1 C were heard to praise her work in a hotel lobby in new york city they stated it was one ot of the greatest pageants they had haa ever witnessed showing as it did the frontier life and development ot of the west it is hoped this years pageant will eclipse any event ever staged in the west it if properly advertised verti sed several thousand people will be here from all sections of the west to witness the pageant everything possible should be done to get this feature 0 of the meeting before the outside sections I 1 it is this feature that brings those from the
