Show SCHOOL NOTES the basin is ig still alive we had a most arousing contest with the Town sight school miss Mis millie christmas as teacher friday march 10 our opponents were at our school house at nine thirty ready to win and we tried to make them feel a part 0 of f us when one of the second grade boys entered the door he be said miss foster will it be out of place to say we are all one that is what we are working for to be one instead of an crowd of children at ten a m the contest in arithmetic it at the black board between the fourth and fifth grades of the two schools commenced both sides Nf working industriously witha determination to win caused much excitement but to our fate miss christmas school succeeded due to their rapidity next came the table match with both sides standing fora number of minutes without signs I 1 of being downed gradually one by ones one stepped out of line 1 until earl labrum and melyin melvin powell remained alone af after ter ten tell minutes review of the tables we decided that the boys were to stay in their positions P wi and we would call that test even next we had stories and songs which closed the mornings ing s work at one p m the two schools second third fourth and fifth grades competed in a spelling match I 1 to our happy surprise we 1 found seven of our school stand ling when the last one of the opponents took his seat 1 the final conclusions the contest was evenly divided and all felt that we are even in our work after the work came the play the children indulged in merry games until three thirty and then the dancing commenced which lasted until five thirty As the visitors were mounting their horses the children of the basin sang farewell schoolmates and while while they were starting off on their journey many goodbyes good byes and yells were given which put a finish to the days work at night the basin school had a dance there were about thirty of the children and visitors present all had a a n good time what are we going to have for final exercise in school has been asked by a number of persons in reply I 1 will say we are planning a rousing good time to both the old and young first I 1 will give a brief account of the exhibit in the fair april the grounds will be of amusement as each child will brink bring his pet animals the school house will be divided into booths one department will be shown the sewing and drawings another booth will show the clift ch clr drens cooking another the general school the amusement will be worth while the first day april 26 1916 the toys boys of the basin school will play a game ot of ball with the town sight boys at two p m at f four our p m will bean be an interesting program with some good lec to occupy a part of the ti time me april will be the girls ball game with the girls of miss christmas school and a basket party after april we expect to take part in the general exercise at the town sight with the Town sight and crescent schools dont fail to I 1 come and get a whole lot for a little money only ten cents p entrance fee will be charged to give you a license to see everything the following events will vill be I 1 held april 26 boys ball game frame april 27 girls ball game on april 26 at 4 p in there will be a good program ram ta occupy the time and on april 27 there will be a basket party estella foster reporter |
