| Show COALVILLE COAL FIELD one of the oldest coal min ink ing districts in utah is about 30 miles northeast of salt lake city in the vicinity of the little littie town of coalville Co alville high grade coal has been mined in this district for over 50 years and the mines now operating are large and well equipped the coal beds however are involved in extensive rock folds and are broken by faults of considerable magnitude the extent and limits of the coal bearing area have therefore been in some doubt and a study was undertaken by carroll carrol IL H mann of the united states gea logical survey y with a view not neif only of making a general geologic study of the area but of working out in detail the Tock ock structure outlining the probable labIa productive areas and making estimates as to the depths of the coal beds within it his report entitled cri the Coil Co alville ville coal field utah has been issued by the geological survey as bulletin Bui letin E a copy of which maybe ol 01 obtained free on application to the director of the ington D C |
