compan y have under consideration ide ration several locations for their heir office feed yards and cor ra their coming means mea n s anther another good business busine ss block in ta and an expansion of the th larket for hay bay and grain the uintah railway company has been a great factor in the developing bf the uintah basin they have he only railroad entering the etah end of the basin and this road road is one of the wonders of railroad building it as sends a great mountain divide at times reaching a maximum grade of 7 per cent and maximum cur of 68 per cent at baxter pass an altitude of feet is reached from which point one of the grandest sights of mountain scenery in all america is to be seen over this road they ship thousands of tons of gilsonite from their mines on this side 1 the rim within the basin F from rom watson the present terminus of the railroad they secured toll rights into vernal and to fort duchesne and have built splendid roads to both these points ferrying green river at alhandra handra AI on the vernal road and at ouray on the fort duchesne road the company has spared no expense to keep these roads in repair and to make their a auto uto service to both points compare as favorably as possible with their rail service coming to roosevelt means the extending exten din of this service from fort duchesne and making this their point for all inland traffic cne aie can now order goods east orvest or west and have them delivered in without trouble or delay and at a less cost than the same goods can be brought in either by way from price or br C olton colton and cut out all the trouble of hunting up freighters and the consequent delay in getting freight from either of these latter boits by team it means that freighting to roosevelt from price or colton will become as obsolete as it is at vernal now and the freighter can turn to his farm and be much better off at the end of the season it also means that one can leave eave roose i velt by auto ln in the morning and reach salt lake or denver the day or evening following with good accommodations along the way in fact the extending of the uintah railway companas comp anys i service means the next best thing to the actual building of a railroad that could happen to the town and ye we duly appreciate the move on the part of the com pan yand r are sure the people will abstain with
