Show Founder of Utah Copper Cop-per Creates Fund for Education in Mining Colonel D. C. Jackling, president presi-dent of the Utah Copper company has ' established the Jackling (foundation in the sciences of mining min-ing and metallury at the Missouri School of Mines, at Rolla, Missouri, Mis-souri, from, which school he graduated grad-uated as a civil engineer in 1892. The foundation will approximate approxi-mate $600,000. One hundred thousand thou-sand dollars is to be used as loan funds and the income from $500,-000 $500,-000 will be used for scholarships and special educational purposes About twenty years ago Jackling Jack-ling established a loan fund a.' the school. This fund already has aided 300 or more students. Under the provisions of the fund no- loans, except in unusual cases, are to be made in the freshman fresh-man year. A second year student may borrow one-half his annual expenses; third year men, three-fourths three-fourths and senior year students the full amount of Che school year expenses. |
