Show Lions Initiate Active Program The Roosevelt Lions club showed new life by initiating 9 new members as a part of their Melvin Jones birthday membership member-ship drive last week. Initiation ceremonies were held at the Frontier Grill Thursday, Jan. 27, under the direction of Howard M, Ivory, president of the club. Other numbers on the program were tap dancing by Rosalie Green, a vocal solo by Grant Peel, a reading by Randall Stewart Stew-art and talks by Lion zone chairmen chair-men Alvin Weeks and J. C. Anderson, An-derson, from the Vernal club. The new cubs initiated by Membership Chairman Hank Swain were Brian Mills, Ted Ol-pin, Ol-pin, Alva Snow, Vere Johnson, Don Johnson, Randall Stewart, Louis Jensen, Glenn Garfield and Dayl Webb. The Melvin Jones birthday drive is an annual membership campaign carried out by Lions clubs all over the world. The 1949 goal of the international organization is 400,000 members. The Lions organization is recognized rec-ognized as the world's largest and most active service club organization. or-ganization. With the increased membership member-ship in the local club, committees will be reorganized and projects outlined which should put Roosevelt Roos-evelt on the map as a leading progressive center of the Uintah Basin, President Ivory indicated. |
