He reminds that all drinking cups and Ealt licks should be covered while the DDT Is being applied. The spray must be allowed al-lowed to dry thoroughly before animals ani-mals are permitted to return to the premises. Operators applying DDT spray or dust are urged to avoid getting any more of the material on themselves than is absolutely necessary and the same precaution applies to inhaling the material. Operators should be especially careful with DDT and oil mixtures because the oil penetrates the skin of humans much more readily than water and, therefore, is much more dangerous to handle. General use of DDT is not advised because there still is considerable research work to be done on insects and crops. It has been used safely as a spray for fly, bedbug, louse and roach control In dairy barns and poultry houses, as a spray In combination with bordeaux mixture for the control of flea beetles and leafhoppers on potatoes, and as a spray or dust under certain conditions condi-tions for various household Insects. i7Zr Biological Desert T 'l vS't ' A virgin forest has been .called a biological desert be'eauseit Joej not produce enough feed to support an!-. . mal life In abundance, jcuVfcfi-""" |
