Show Duchesne County 7th War Bond Loan Drive Still Lagging T Rossevelt City Places Bond Queen. But Has Still Not Reached Its Quota of 4 30,000,00. Miss Wilma Wogec, the singing sing-ing War bond queen from Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, Utah was declared the winner, Friday evening, June 22 between the shows at the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Theatre. Miss Wogec had accumulated 2525 votes to put her away-out-ahead of her opponent op-ponent from Duchesne City, who had at the end of the drive withdrawn from the race. Queen Presented The queen was presented to the audience by Mayor George H. Harrison, who in behalf of the citizens of Duchesne county declared de-clared her the winner and wished wish-ed her success in the state finals, which will be held in Salt Lake City, July 4th. Considerable Credit is due to the queen drive chairman, Mrs. Parley Rawlings and the Roosevelt Business and Professional Women's club who sponsored her, and its president, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett. Presents Gift President Schmiett, in her remarks spoke of the cooperation coopera-tion of her members , and how proud the club was to be able to i ' xi t: 1 piace a winner in me biaie iinaib, after which she read a tribute and presented the queen in behalf be-half of the club members, a very beautiful ring. Sings Few Numbers. The newly crowned singing queen then rendered two vocal solos, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Schmiett. "Pep" Talk On Bond Sales' County War Bond chairman, Heber T. Hall gave a very spirited spirit-ed "pep" talk on the 7th War Loan drive. He pleaded with Duchesne Du-chesne county citizens to purchase pur-chase more and larger bonds during the next few weeks which are left, in order to .place the county in good standing with the rest of the state. "We are one of the lowest counties in the drive in the entire state at the present time, with only a little over 40 per cent subscribed". subscrib-ed". He could not explain what was wrong, but urged his county workers to step up their efforts before it is too late. |
