Show SOCIETY Peggy Oldroyd, Society Reporter CONTRACT CLUB The Power Plant Park in Uinta Uin-ta canyon was the scene of a merry steak dinner last Saturday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ho-ward Harrison entertained members mem-bers and guests of Contract club. Those enjoying the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkins, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Mullins, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferron, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Birch, Mr. and Mrs, Learning Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Win. H. Ruppel, Mr. and Mrs, Sam Weiss, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marimon, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chamberlin. JUST-A-MERE Bouquets of delphinium and mixed summer flowers formed the decorations when Mrs. Dan Allen entertained members of Just-A-Mere club at her residence resi-dence at the Power Plant on August 18. A tempting salad course lunch-con lunch-con was served with covers laid for Mrs. Darrcll Walker. Mrs. Ruben Larsen, Mrs. Grant Kil-lian, Kil-lian, Mrs. Jack Zimmerman. Mrs. Ted Jensen, Mrs. Farrell Wilkins, Mrs. Reva Owen, and Mrs. Ed Labrum. Bridge formed the diversion following luncheon with the evening's eve-ning's grand prize going to Mrs. Darrell Walker. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING A dessert luncheon was featured fea-tured when Mrs. Howard Andrews An-drews entertained members of Neighborhood Sewing club at her home on August 18. Places were marked for Mrs. Neldon Nyberg, Mrs. Clifton Laris, Mrs. Floyd Labrum, Mrs. Guy Burton, Bur-ton, Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mrs. Parley Par-ley Rawlings, Mrs. Kenneth Zir-ker, Zir-ker, and Mrs. Joseph Rawlings. FRIDAY BRIDGE Lending a note of charm by way of evening entertainment was the party given by Mrs. Clair Ashton at her home last Friday evening. Low bowls of roses and gladioli gladio-li were placed in profusion about the room where small tables were arranged for a tasty dessert luncheon and an evening1 of bridge. . Her guest list included Mrs. Lester Mullins, Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Mrs. John R. Bourne, Mrs. Paul Wilkins, Mrs. J. V. McLca, Mrs. Ray Jordon, Mrs. Fred Ferron, Mrs. Parley Lambert, Lam-bert, Mrs. Robert Huish, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Sam Weiss, Mrs. Louis Corbridge, Mrs. Howard Harrison. Mrs. Axel Ax-el Birch, Mrs. Vean Bair, and Mrs. Homer Edwards. Prizes were won by Mrs. Jordan. Jor-dan. Mrs. Edwards, and Mrs. Birch. HONORED AT PARTIES Mr. and Mrs. Garth Gardner, nee Mary Ellen Stewart, recent newlyweds, have been the motiff for a number of gay parties during dur-ing the past week. Sunday, August 15, the new Mrs. Gardner was feted at an afternoon shower on the beautiful beauti-ful lawn at the home of Mrs. Wallace Dennis, at Myton. Mrs. Ted Thomas and Mrs. Wallace Dennis, aunts of the bride, and her grandmother, Mrs. George Stewart, Sr. acted as co-hostesses. A background of summer flowers and fruit-laden apple trees formed a lovely background back-ground for the lace covered tea table which was centered with a Heautilul bride's cake. The bride poured for her guests, assisted as-sisted by her cousin, Mrs. Beverly Bev-erly Purcell, also a recent biude. One of the highlights of the afternoon occurred when Mrs. Jennie Tuttle, a life-long friend of the Stewart family, presented Mrs. Gardner with a charming cut glass dish, a heirloom presented pre-sented to Mrs. Tuttle at her wedding fifty years ago. Later in the evening Mr. Gardner Gard-ner joined his bride at the delightful de-lightful garden supper served against an array of Chinese lanterns lan-terns and bright lights on the Wallace Dennis lawn, with rela tives and friends of both families fam-ilies present. VISITOR FETED Mrs Gordon Harmston was hostess at a delightful bridge luncheon at her home on August 16. The occasion was in compliment compli-ment to her sister, Mrs. Harry Sims, of Denver, who has been a houseguest at the Harmston residence. Lovely bouquets of mixed garden gar-den flowers enhanced the beauty of the rooms where small tables, each centered with an exquisite rose, were arranged with places marked for Mrs. Wayne Malin, Mrs. Lester Mullins, Mrs. Paul Wilkins, Mrs. Parley Lambert, Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppel, Mrs. Louis Corbridge, Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Harm-ston, Mrs. J. V. McLea, Mrs. Bennie Ben-nie Schmiett, Mrs. Howard Harrison Har-rison and Mrs. Morris Lewis. HARRISON FAMILY REUNION LAPOINT, (Special) A reunion re-union of the family of Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Harrison was held August 22 at Mcrkley Park, Vernal. The occasion featured a chicken dinner din-ner served to 41 persons including inclu-ding Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins, Jen-kins, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Harrison, Lapoint; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Delbcrt Harrison, Vernal; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Harrison, Denver, Den-ver, Colorado; Carl Harrison, Roosevelt; Pearl Sorensen, Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first reunion of Mrs. Harrison's family. She is the mother of 12 children, 9 of whom are living. She has 51 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. |
