Show BASIN BRIEFS Mrs. J. O. Orser was elected president of Roosevelt Business and Professional Women at a meeting and banquet held April 20 at the Frontier Grill. Elected to serve with Mrs. Orser were Mrs. Mollie Stcnberg. Ft. Duchesne, Du-chesne, vice president; Reta Hutcheon, Neola, secretary; Wil-ma Wil-ma Webb, Roosevelt, treasurer. Plans are being discussed for club members to attend the state BPW convention to be held in Ogden in June. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson and children returned to Roosevelt April 29 from a 2-week trip to Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, San Diego, Los Angeles and other points of interest. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. While in Salt Lake the Nelsons picked up their son, Kent, a student at the University, and brought him home for a weekend visit !XSX5XSKSSSXSSSXS ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Barlowe Muir. of Salt Lake City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Yvonne, to Bert Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Gardner, of Haydcn. An early spring wedding wed-ding is planned. Miss Muir is a graduate of Granite high school, and at present pres-ent is a junior student at the University of Utah. Mr. Gardner graduated from the Roosevelt high school and attended at-tended the University of Utah from which institution he received re-ceived a degree of bachelor of science in business administration. administra-tion. The couple will make their home in Roosevelt, where Mr. Gardner Is manager of the Uintah Uin-tah Sportsman Center. Jimmy Bacon, of Burley Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Whatcott. and daughter, of Salt Lake City, visited over the weekend week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bacon and other relatives in Roosevelt. They returned home Sunday evening. Wednesday was Girls' Day at Alterra high school.. Festivities commenced with a fashion show and tea in the afternoon, at which the girls' mothers were special guests, followed by a soft ball game with the Roosevelt high school girls, which ended in an 8 to 14 score in favor of Alterra. A dance in the evening completed the agenda. Worthy Grand Matron Flora D. Large and her grand officers will make an official visit to Duveromy Chapter No. 17, Order of Eastern Star on May 10. The meeting at the Masonic temple will be preceeded by a banquet at the Frontier Grill. The students at Roosevelt high school, Wednesday, elected Jack McLea student-body president; Lyle Benson, boys' vice president; presi-dent; Sharlene Stone, girls' vice president, and JoAnn Roberts, secretary. Thirty-five Alterra high school girls left by bus last Saturday morning, under the supervision of Mrs. Parley Rawlings, their physical education instructor, to participate in the Posture Parade Pa-rade held on the BYU campus at Provo. The girls, who competed with entries from eleven other high schools, also enjoyed a sightseeing tour of Provo and vicinity before returning home Saturday night.
