Show Z VI .Vi -i ' 1 :fn- ; i-. ,T --z:-'7, Roosevelt City Municipal Building Housing Fire Department and Library Furnishing office space for Ration Board, County Welfare Office Fills long City Need Laying of New Water Lines, Major City Project During Present Year City projects were more or less controlcd during the past year by the shortage of manpower, man-power, as serveral projects were unable to be started due to this fact, however, the city council were able to complete a much needed water develpoment dur-" ing the year. At the present time the city can boast of having a complete needed water pipe system, sys-tem, which by eliminating all but about four blocks of old leaking wood water pipe should make great difference in volume of water wasted, and the heavy expense ex-pense of maintenance. New Mains New mains replacing old ones and also new mains laid .1700 ft. of 2 inch, 6,800 ft. 4 inch and 400 ft. of 6 inch, together with new valves and service outlets. The expendeture for the above work amounted to S6.800.00 for pipe and fittings, $1,500.00 for labor and $3,100.00 for trenching trench-ing equipment and backfilling. Cemetery Improvement The city of Roosevelt boasts of the very best burial grounds in the Uintah Basin. Work on the Cemetery during the past few years was climaxed during the past year, when the Roosevelt Roose-velt Commerical club helped the city finance a complete new sprinkling system. The sprinkling sprink-ling system which takes care of the entire plot of ground, cost approximately $1,500.00 which placed a complete new four inch underground main. Several New Post-War Projects The city council has lined up several projects for post-war work. One of which will be the municipal air port. This project will be partly sponsored by the federal government, under a grant that is now, being worked out in Washington, D. C. . Complete Sewer System During the coming year the big projects will be improvement' improve-ment' of water and a complete sewer system for the city. It is anticipated that during 1945 water meters will be .purchased and installed, at which time a value will be placed upon the city water and everyone will pay for the exact amount of water wa-ter used. Other cities and engineers claim that with a meter system there would be no need of water shortage' throughout the city of Roosevelt. |
