Show Order Closing Wells In State State Engineer Ed. H. Watson has proclaimed the closing of wells diverting water from underground un-derground sources beginning with November 1, 1944, and ending end-ing April 1, 1945, as provided by law. All persons owning, or having control of, any artesian or pump well, or wells, in this State are required to close, by plug, cap, valve, or other mechanical me-chanical device or by repairs, all wells except those providing water for beneficial use. Beneficial Bene-ficial use during the above per iod does not include irrigation. This order does not apply to wells in Flowell District or Millard Mil-lard county, or Tooele and Sanpete San-pete counties, all of which are provided for in other Orders. It is also provided that modification modifica-tion of said Order may be granted grant-ed upon a showing to the State-Engineer State-Engineer that a compliance there with will cause partial or complete failure of the well. The closing season of underground under-ground water has been proclaimed proclaim-ed in the interest of conserving; the underground water supply and to provide a maximum quantity for next year's use. As a result of last year's Closing Order there was made available during the past season additional addition-al water which materially helped help-ed to mature crops. Strict obedience obed-ience to this Closing Order will i further increase the supply. Disregard of the Closing Order Or-der is a misdemeanor and if necessary, nec-essary, the State Engineer will bring action in the district court to enforce the law. |
