Show Regional P T A Conference Great Success - - Jensen The regional PTA conference, held in Vernal, Sept. 17, was a tremendous success, but the spirits spir-its of the assembled teachers were somewhat dampened by the scarcity of parents, Lawrell Jensen, Jen-sen, Roosevelt high school principal, prin-cipal, said today. Mr. Jensen said the program, dealing with the problems of American youth, was the best of its type he had ever attended On the whole, the attendance was excellent, including students stud-ents from area American Problems Prob-lems classes, who gave their ideas about teen-agers and what should be done for them. Guest speakers included Mrs. H. Cecil Baker, vice-president Utah Congress, Salt Lake City, Dr. John T. Wahlquist, Salt Lake City; Superintendent Ar thur E. Peterson, Jordan district; Miss Charlotte Stewart. SaU Lake City; and Joseph Carling, Salt Lake City. The local participants were Marguerite M. Colton, regional director. Vernal; Floyd S. Holm, superintendent Duchesne county schools, Duchesne; and Harold M. Lundell, superintendent Uintah Uin-tah county schools, Vernal, A symposium was held in the morning from 10 till 12. based on the conference theme. "The Child's Road to Happiness." During Dur-ing the afternoon a panel discussion dis-cussion was held from 2 till 4. |
