Show Poison Hemlock Found In City Don't confuse the poison hemlock hem-lock plant with edible plants found in and near Roosevelt when preparing table decorations decora-tions and foods. The Salt Lake Tribune recently recent-ly printed a story, picture, and the description of the poisonous plant. Mrs. Marrell Wilkins saw the article and thought some of the plants growing in her yard might be hemlock. She sent some in to the Question Box of the Sunday Tribune and, according to the paper, it is hamlock. It seems to row in quantity throughout Utah. "Purple spots along the stem are a characteristic of hemlock," to quote the Tribune's story. "Other ways to identify this innocent in-nocent appearing plant include the finely cut foliage and large j root. It can be confused with edible ed-ible plants." i It is not to be served as wild i parsnips, as has been done with this highly poisonous plant. 1 |
