Show School Doings Alterra High j Two bus loads of students from the Alterra high school attended at-tended the matinee concert given 1 by the Utah Symphony orchestra orches-tra at Vernal Monday afternoon, Clyde Johnson, music director at Alterra, was in charge of the; group, assisted by Mrs. Nyals Andrcason, Mrs. M. J, Edwards and Wendell Johnson. In the basketball game played last Saturday night at Roosevelt, Alterra was victorious wjth a score of 37 to 25. Tuesday afternoon Don Drum-mond, Drum-mond, of the U. S. Forest Service, Ser-vice, showed an educational film on fire prevention. Roosevelt High There has been quite a lot of, activity around R.II.S. this week. ' The boys from the boxing club went to Salt Lake last week and fought in the Polio exhibition exhibi-tion fights. From all reports they made a pretty good showing for themselves. They 'were guests of the Salt Lake Elks club, and reported that they were really treated swell. Monday night in the high school gym, a boxing card was arranged with boxers from the Carbon boxink. club. The fights turned out to be a big success. i Our basketball game with Alterra Al-terra didn't turn out quite the way we would have liked it lo. but it was still an awfully good game. We are looking forward to playing Uintah next Friday at Vernal. The girls' basketball team has, been pretty active during the , past week. They had a box in ;lhe hall all week for students j to submit a name- to be used for their team. The name "Rider-i "Rider-i cites," submitted by Mr. Nielson, was finally chosen. They had a , game scheduled with Tabiona last Wednesday, but because of bad weather and slick roads It had lo be postponed. They were also in charge of the cute assembly as-sembly Friday, featuring a sup-cr-duper boxing bout between a couple of the girls! (The boys can't seem to out-do the girls.) The girls from the various Phys. Ed. classes helped out by doing some of the old fashioned folk dances. Everyone seemed to enjoy en-joy it. Monday afternoon Roosevelt High was well represented at the Utah State Symphony Orchestra concert at Vernal. Four bus loads of student attended. Johnnie John-nie Cook, music director, was in charge of the group, assisted by Mrs. Cleo Mohlman. The cast of "A Dale With Judy" enjoyed a "no host" dinner din-ner at the Toyack Chapter house Wednesday evening. Following dinner, progressive games were I played. |
