Uintah ' Sportsman Center In Norling Building Phone 207-W Roosevelt j "It PAYS TO PLAY" 7tcs - 7l' That I Listening to the radio last night I heard a broadcast direct from v tho "Friendship Train." This, as you all know, is the train stated in California which is gathering together the food donations L of. this country. The broadcast was being made by the people of Omaha, Nebraska, and the wonderful part of "it all is that even before getting that far, there had been donated fifty-seven fifty-seven freight cars of food. The cars contained wheat, flour, beans, canned milk, and other items that can be shipped. to the most needy people of Europe. To us who don't have the spectre of hunger facing us every day, this can't have the meaning it must have to the people of these countries. The purpose of this food donation is first of all humanitarian, because we can't any of us, stand by and see our neighbor starve. It also is to promote pro-mote the feeling of friendliness and spread the gospel . of Democracy De-mocracy to the millions of people peo-ple who have been so many years under the heels of tyrants. Coming- at this time of the year when we have had a bountiful boun-tiful harvest, we can give thanks that our children are well taken care of in the finest land under the skies, and feel thankful, too, that we have enough to share with the needy. Just let, your imagination dwell for a while on the thoughts of hunger, not so much for yourself but for your children and you'll get the meaning behind this donation. About this time of the year people are wondering just what they can give some dear one for Christmas. I know the fellows, especially, have a hard time deciding de-ciding what they are going to give their wives. McLea's gave me a swell idea the other day. What .could make the wife happier and be more sensible than to'gjye her something for the house. Something that Will make her work easier and be what she has wanted a new metal kitchen sink . cabinet, for instance, or a new living room or bedroom set. A new washer or electric range or vacuum cleaner would be swell, Then McLea's have a big variety var-iety of floor lamps, rugs, platform plat-form rockers, radios and tables. Or you could get her a new electric iron or a pressure, cooker, cook-er, or one of the many other items McLea's have in stock. Don't forget they have a swell line of toys, too. Adv.
