Mrs. Golden Merkley of Murray, Mur-ray, was here visiting her sister, Mrs. Charles Bigelow and family during the week. Ray Clark of Salt Lake City visited with his sister, Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Abbeglen and family, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins, Mrs. Ronald Horrocks and Mrs. Dave Jenkins and Dean Preece, attended the grave side services at Price for the infant daughter ,of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Workman Work-man Tuesday. The baby died at birth. Mrs. Jenkins will remain with her daughter for the next two weeks. Mrs. Workman was the former Reva Jenkins of La-point. La-point. Mrs. Sylvia Blackburn received receiv-ed word Tuesday, that her son, Floyd Scarle of Long Beach, California, had joined the Merchant Mer-chant Marines. Floyd has a wife and three children living in California who will move to Salt Lake in the near future. The Searles were former residents of Lapoint. - Mrs. Alice Angus, Vonda Bigelow Bige-low and Christine Harrison entertained en-tertained 25 ladies Wednesday afternoon at a party in honor of Mrs. Elmo Hardy who moved to Vernal Thursday. Games were played and a delicious lunch served. The party was held at the Hardy home. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Burton of Grcystone, Colorado, were visiting visit-ing their daughter, Mrs. Travis Neilson and family, during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Alfonzo Van announce an-nounce the arrival of a girl. Mrs. Van is at the Ft. Duchesne hospital. hos-pital. Mr. and Mrs. McCoy Nyberg entertained the following at a birthday dinner Monday, in honor hon-or of their daughter, Beth: the Mesdames: Annie Warburton, Barbara Nyberg, Elizabeth Nebe- ker and George Kump. Mrs. Lamont Nelson received word that her husband had arrived ar-rived at a training camp in Texas. Tex-as. He has been taking training at Los Angeles the past month. The MIA Junior girls sponsored spon-sored a Leap Year party and dance February 29, under the direction of their class leader, Mrs. Thelma Bisel. The hall was beautifully decorated in red, white and blue with V's for Victory. Vic-tory. During intermission a floor show was staged with 21 girls participating, all dresed in red, and white. Mrs. Doris Harrison, dance director, helped with the floor show. Mrs. Minnie Reynolds received receiv-ed word from her son, Neldon, who is in the Navy, that he was at Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Reynolds, just returned from south San' Francisco where she visited her daughter, Mrs. Lyman Ly-man Merkley and family, but only on-ly saw her son for a few hours as he was sent to Canada, then Los Angeles. The neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Hardy met at the home of Thurmer Rasmussen Wednesday night and gave them a farewell party. The Hardys have purchased purchas-ed a home in Vernal. Games were played and a plate lunch served. The Hardys have lived in Lapoint for the past 12 years. Pearl Perry was called to Vernal Ver-nal Friday night to be with her mother, Mrs. Caroline McConk-ie, McConk-ie, who is ill, Joan Nebeker entertained 20 friends at a birthday party at her home Saturday afternoon. A luncheon was served and games played, the occasion being Joan's 13th birthday. Walter Jaggi, child welfare worker of Vernal, was in La- point visiting the school Friday. Paul Hacking of Vernal and Miss Virginia Peterson of Jensen, Jen-sen, were married at the home of Bishop George R. Hacking February Feb-ruary 26, 1944. Bishop Hacking officiated. Mrs. Fred Hartle and Leland Garr Bolton of Bennett, visited at the home of Kenneth Hartle Saturday. Mr. Bolton is home on furlough after spending the past eight months in the Aleutian Islands. Is-lands. He will report to Texas March 19, for more training. |
