Show Flying Club Activities by C. flying has been the main activity of the Roosevelt fivers this past Last Zeth Meyers was accompanied by and Terry Ruxton on a flight over the Chain Lakes area to drop some ice cream to a group of Third Ward Boy Scouts who were there It can now be reported that Buxton and Zeth Meyers as poor The ice cream landed out in the lake and in order to have their some of the Scouts had to do some It should have been quite an swim at approximately in the morning Thursday afternoon and evening work was resumed on our club house at the airport A majority of the club members came to help in mixing and pouring a section of cement Sunday morning some of the members participated in the search for a missing boy in the Lake area at the head nf the Uintah Just before 5 a m two planes took off for the search They were piloted by Ted and Dale Larsen After nearly five hours of searching the area the planes returned to Roosevelt for fuel The club's larger plane returned to the area piloted by Ted Thomas and Zeth Meyers They were able to spot the missing boy who had wandered back into a and by dropping notes to the men on the ground found that it was indeed the missing bov Then bv using portable radios donated to the searchers bv the Forest they contacted the ground party by that time was within about a mile of the and notified them to move in and make positive identification A soon as this was the aircraft crew contacted people at the U Bar Ranch and notified them not to send any more searchers After returning from the serch Ted Thomas and Ed Richman flew to Vernal where they participated in an afternoon of parachute jumping Ted made two jumps and Ed made one All members are asked to remember that we will be working on the club house again this Wednesday beginning about 4 30 |
