'JfL- - OBSEEVATIONS ' i - .By Jan , . , The Bingham High School bas ket ball team is going into, the State Tourney for the twelfth time as champions of the Jordan district; a remarkable? record and an achievement worthy of particu lar mention. We can not believe that Bing-ham boys are of any higher physi cal calibre than the average of those from any other high school, but still, in this particular sport, they have been the outstanding learn in this division for more than a decade. If it is not excel-lence of physical prowess, it must be mentaj coordination, coupled with a coordination of effort in team work that simply must win out. To instill such a spirit of mind into a group of boys and to coor dinate the individual play into team play is the job of the coach and certainly our Tommy McMul lin has done his job well we are very proud of him and of the teams that he has turned out as representatives of Bingham. . We are sometimes prone to question the advisability of stress ing the athletic achievement of a school so much and we may won-der whether, or not. the real ob-jective of the school, that is the education of the child does not suffer due to this. In some cases perhaps it does but on the whole, athletic competition undoubtedly has a real part in the curicula of the school. We have noted that, among the outstanding product of any school, the athletes are generally conversely that the ath lete is rarely a backward student. a a Mrs. Louis Buchman Entertain ed the Martha Sewing circle "on Wednesday at the Masonic Hall'.
