Show Cottrell represents Utah at nafl awards Steven T. Cottrell, a mathematics mathema-tics teacher at Woods Cross High has been selected as one of three national candidates from Utah to represent their profession as a part of the 1987 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Mathe-matics Teaching, a National Science Scien-ce Foundation awards program. Cottrell will receive a certificate from the Presidential Awards Program Prog-ram and a certificate of commendation commenda-tion from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) recognizing his outstanding ceremonies cere-monies along with outstanding science sci-ence teachers. From the state award winners, three mathematics teachers and two science teachers from each state, the District of Columbia, Col-umbia, and Puerto Rico, 104 will be selected for Presidential Awards by a National Awards Committee meeting in Washington, D.C. in early fall. The National Awards Committee Commit-tee will announce the final teacher selections in September. A grant of $5,000 will be given to each of the 104 award-winning teachers' schools to supplement the school's budget for mathematics or science teaching. Each national awardee will receive a three-day expense-paid expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C, where the group will be honored. They will take part in a working conference on precollege science and mathematics teaching during one of their days in Washington, and an awards ceremony will be held at the White House.
