Altamont High is Off to good Start in new year Altamont High with a student body of in addition to 15 qualified full and part-time are making plans for a successful school At an introductory assembly held at Altamont High ways were discussed for a successful school The assembly was under direction of the student body Dee Clark and a well prepared program was after which the governing policies of the school year were presented by Principal Douglas Some discussion was had relatively to the new student-car adopted by the District and the student body received this new regulation very Time was spent in introducing the faculty and Barrus com on the fact that no finer group of teachers could be found than the present faculty at Altamont High New teachers on the faculty are the coach and physical education Rodney Edward Neal Von and the Art Opal Other members of the faculty returning Don Albert Math and Industrial Birdie Gladys Physical Education and Clark Ora Fay Home Edna Altamont High School students are primarily members of farm Approximately 90 of the students are transported by District-operated school and the miles traveled vary from one to near 30 The school probably has facilities equal to the better schools of comparable size in the At the present time a ten-acre ball field and playing area is being constructed and plans are to install night lighting One of the most encouraging things about Altamont High School is the fact that nearly all parents lend a hand to the principal and the staff in bettering conditions for our Parents encourage home studying in spite of the fact students travel long distances to and from school each An active P-TA organization continues to aid the school Mr Barrus takes this opportunity to thank parents and patrons for the fine cooperation in building better schools for young people of this area and hopes we can continue to be of service to the community and
