J. manager of Roosevelt Food Products company was in Roosevelt July 24 on business pertaining to construction of potato pits plant improvement had just returned from a week's trip to Chicago and DC in the interests ot the He was successful in bringing back the priority preference rating which was the one thing most vital and necessary before any future work could be done in establishing this enormous industry in Uintah He also brought back a signed contract with the Government for the complete out put of the finished product up to and including four million pounds of dehydrated potatoes for over seas Plant Construction is this week advertising in the Roosevelt Standard for laborers to work on the improvement of the Peppard Seed buildings which have been purchased for the Dehydration also the ruction of two large size potato storage which will store enough potatoes for a six weeks work will commence within the next ten Diggers Ordered Potato diggers have been Ol ed through the J. V. McLea Implement company of Five machine drawn and three horse drawn it is figured that these eight diggers will handle this years acreage in splendid shape It has been advised that potato growers in each section plan ahead of time so as to help each other in the cropping season to avoid any labor Women Workers Needed It is expected that the plant will be in readiness to start operation by the latter part of October and not later than the first week m November The company will need at least 60 to 70 women they Ig-gest those who will be available for work register at the earliest date in order to dominate any possible at the time the plant begins BIk Industry This will be the largest industry established up to date in the Uintah Basin and will benefit every community- not only furnishing the farmers with a cash crop but will also establish a sizable payroll during the winter when it is needed therefore every person in the Basin should their part in making it a huge |
