held some meetings and formed a good many new acquaintances on tho first of this month elders bunot white and myself started bior for kapawai Pa on the north island for the purpose of attending our hul hui tan conference the se set v was calm and afforded us ua a pleasant voyage across the straight we reached wellington at 11 a in the following day and was there j ined by elder T S browning at 3 we took the train for Pap awal arrivi arriving arn tg there at 7 p m we were met by our beloved president E F richards and seventeen elders irom from zion who escorted us to the large ahari meets meet ing house led by the brass band composed of both natives and we were then requested to bongi rob rab noses with between lour and five hundred natives after this pleasant task was doie we were escorted lo 10 the kai eat ing houge bouse by elder 11 lee bradford and after partaking of the good food which rich lind bad been be well prepared by the natives were requested to hondt with akoub oue one hundred more this being finished I 1 felt my nose when no one was looking to see if it had been affected and found to my happy surprise that it was all right and I 1 congratulated myself s e if on getting off so easily we then went to a largo large dwelling house that had bad been vacated for the elders and there we spent the early part of the night very verv pleasantly the next day ni assent as sp nt visiting ng with th the e elders and chatting over ovar our last years experience until evening when word camo came that another company was coming A number of us then started for the station to meet them before going far we had bad the pleasure of meeting ten more elders among whom was waa elder randolph mckinnon of randolph our number was thus swollen to awen ty eight who were a hap happy lot none can imagine the pleasure that was in this meeting but those who have had bad the experience I 1 was very pleased to meet bro me mc kincon tie lie having so recently arlivea our beautiful mountain home cringing Dri nging words ot comfort to me dur our sojourn together wo we had a number of pleasant conversations about home until at ai times limes I 1 could almost fancy I 1 was there again on sunday ins vi our conference began at 10 a ni but on account of being requested to assist the other european elders elder to hold bold meetings at car nine miles from Pap awal I 1 was not privileged to ti attend any of the sunday meetings again on monday I 1 was war called to assist in tr acting grey town and holding meetings there in the ev evening ehing thus missing ta two 0 of the conference fer erice meetings on monday I 1 had tho the pleasure of attending and taking part in two of tuesdays meetings and that hat evening assisted in holding a second meeting in Grey town on wednesday we held our elders testimony meeting which lasted over five hours houra there was a very good spirit throughout the meeting and part of the time the outpouring of the holy spirit was so powerful that it was hard for tho the elders to control their feelings sufficient to express themselves this meeting will long be remembered by those twenty eight buin humble mormon elders El ciers A and started out on foot leaving me to come by rail with the baggage I 1 reached spring creek at 10 a m and went to a maori village about two miles distant whore where I 1 found elder casper caspar with a horse and cart with which we started out to meet the other elders whom we met five miles out we decided that throe three of us should go on to headquarters while one remained with the saints over sunday he be to follow us on monday elder bunot stayed and we reached hero here at 11 after travelling tra velling founty miles we held meeting here yesterday and had a good time we are enjoying
