Show campaign underway to salvage rubber footwear monday december ath will mark the beginning of a state wide drive by i the office of price administration the public schools the parent teacher association and the minute women to insure maxi maximum munt effective use of childrens rubber footwear now in the hands of consumers mrs gwen brough community service member of the rich kich county war price and rationing board announced today it Is believed that many famili families famil iss S in this area have rubbers and galoshes galos hes that the children have outgrown out grown and that no longer fit any member of the family in this campaign we are urging all ail farni families lies to ito go through their closets attics attic 9 and basements for rubber footwear which can be taken by the children to their schools where the rubbers and galoshes galos hes will be assembled and distributed to children they will fit this program la Is a part of the nation wide rubber conservation briw and is intended also to assist in the anti inflation program of the nation since inflation is essentially a shortage of supplies the office of price administration Is doing everything in its power to be sure that maximum use is made of all existing supplies of consumer goods in order to reduce the demand tor ifor scarce commodities as much as possible while the campaign la Is essentially a conservation rather than a salvage program mrs brough urged that all oda or worn out rubbers and galoshes galos hes as well as serviceable ones should be sent in since odd rubbers which cannot be mated as well as those which cannot be repaired will be turned over to the local salvage committee the campaign to have rubber footwear brought into the grade and junior high choals will begin on monday dec and continue through friday dec children will bring the articles to their teachers who will turn them over to the local parent teachers association the PTA will have charge of sorting cleaning mating and repairing the footwear during the holidays the redistribution will take place when the children return to school after christmas vacation in so far as possible child children n without protective footwear who 1 bring ing i in articles article 3 which are too small for them to use will be given a pair to fit them there can be no guarantee of this direct r exchange however since there is no way of being sure all needed sizes will be turned in |
